ourstory

In 2017, Rev. Troy Beer transitioned out of pastoring Axis Church in Brisbane, and moved into the role of National Director of Church Growth and Evangelism for the Australian Wesleyan Church.

Troy invited Mrs. Stephanie McGill to join him on the team as his Associate Director, and launch the ‘National Impulse’ initiative. National Impulse is focused on the revitalization of the church through coaching and consulting in church health and strategic growth. The end goal of National Impulse is for ‘multiplication’ to become part of the DNA of every church.

Together, God inspired Troy and Stephanie with the vision for pod church. In 2018, the pod church vision was launched as a multiplication strategy within the Wesleyan Church in Australia. Within the Wesleyan Church, we have taken what has been traditionally called the Pioneer Fellowship, and further developed it into the concept of pod church.

We believe that pod church is a concept that can be adapted to various settings. pod church can be launched from scratch, planted out of another church, or even transitioned into one. The key is that it involves a reset of values and a cultivation of a specific culture around pioneering, outreaching and disciple making.

Since pod church is a concept that can be adapted to any setting, we believe that pod church has the potential to extend into the wider church. The vision and training are available to be shared to benefit the wider Body of Christ in various settings. The concept can become a multiplication strategy for any network of Christian churches that want to be part of a multiplication movement where disciples make disciples and churches multiply themselves.

Pod church works well for the small church that longs to have a large impact, and the large church that wants to keep the small church feel.

DOCTRINAL SUMMARY
We believe in God the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. We believe that Jesus Christ the Son suffered in our place on the cross, that he died but rose again, that he now sits at the Father’s right hand until he returns to judge all people at the last day.
We believe in the Holy Scriptures as the inspired and inerrant Word of God.

We believe that by the grace of God every person has the ability and responsibility to choose between right and wrong, and that those who repent of their sin and believe in the Lord Jesus Christ are justified by faith.

We believe that God not only counts believers as righteous, but that he makes them righteous, freeing them of sin’s dominion at conversion, purifying their hearts by faith and perfecting them in love at entire sanctification, and providing for their growth in grace at every stage of their spiritual life, enabling them through the presence and power of the Holy Spirit to live a victorious life.
